Myrna J. Marshall

Myrna J. Marshall, 89, of Smicksburg, PA, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Sprankle Personal Care Home, Punxsutawney.

She was born June 29, 1926, in South Mahoning Twp., Indiana Co., PA, the daughter of Boyd and Irene (Johnson) Steele.

Myrna was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Smicksburg. Faith, family and working on the family farm were a large part of Myrna's life. An outstanding homemaker, she took constant care of her family and blessed them with guidance. Myrna was a fabulous cook and baker, and specialized in baking wedding cakes for several years. She took great pleasure in welcoming friends, family and neighbors to her home and looked forward to family gatherings and reunions. Myrna also enjoyed making crafts and became skillful in sewing and crocheting, making her own clothes and beautiful handcrafted quilts. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and good friend, and will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives she had touched.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Larry Marshall and wife, Colleen, and Terry Marshall and companion, Lorri, all of Smicksburg; daughters, Lois Blystone and husband, Ron, of Creekside, and Doris Burkes and husband, Ron, of DuBois; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Bruce Steele and wife, Sara, of Dayton, PA, Blaine Steele and wife, Betty Jean, of Indiana, PA, and Roger Steele and wife, Mary Louise, of Punxsutawney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of nearly 64 years, Harold Marshall, who died January 20, 2010; son, Gary Marshall; three brothers, Earl Steele, Raymond Steele, and Dean Steele; and four sisters, Lula Malcom, Martha Anderson, Donna Dougherty, and Evelyn Lundstrom.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 E. Main Street, Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of funeral services at 10 AM on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the funeral home with the Rev. Arlene Schweitzer officiating.

Burial will follow at Smicksburg Lutheran Cemetery, Smicksburg, PA.
