Donald E. Slee

Donald E. Slee, 74, of Shelocta, PA, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Kittanning Care Center with his family by his side.

He was born December 28, 1939 in Tidal, PA, the son of Arnold E. Slee, Sr. and Velma Rose (Hartman) Slee.

Donald lived in Dayton during his younger years and called the Elderton area his home for the last 45 years. For 28-and-a-half years he worked at R&P Coal Company as a roof bolter and was also self-employed as a water well driller. Donald was a member of Christ Bible Fellowship in Indiana and enjoyed reading, especially westerns and stories about the Civil War and World War II. He also enjoyed watching movies, looking at older cars and cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates. Donald will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and his kind smile will always be remembered.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 51 years, Dora E. Slee, whom he married June 28, 1963; son, Marvin L. Slee and girlfriend, Elizabeth Peak, of Robinson; daughters, Lois J. Bowser and boyfriend, Kenneth Pike, of Pittsburgh, Valerie J. Lewis, of Indiana, PA, Mona D. Kirkwood and husband, Rob, of Shelocta; grandchildren, Ashtin Kirkwood, RJ Kirkwood, Daniel R. Peak, III and Dawson A. Peak; brothers, Roger Slee and wife, Cindy, of Raleigh, NC, and William Slee and wife, Donna, of Budd Lake, NJ; sisters, Beverly Haight, of Marion Center, Glenda Mantlo and husband, Johnnie, of Aledo, TX, and Delores Auge and husband, Brian, of Punxsutawney; and sister-in-law, Norma Slee, of Wake Forest, NC.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joey Lewis; brother, Arnold Elmer Slee, Jr.; sister, Esther Jane Thompson; and son-in-law, Jeffrey Lewis.

Friends and family will be received from 1-3 and 6-8 PM on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the funeral home, with Pastor Philip Mack officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Union Lutheran Cemetery, Shelocta, PA.
