David Elliott, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Cape Coral, FL and Kittanning, PA, died, Thursday, August 28, 2014, at his home in Fort Myers.

He was born on February 26, 1922 in Brownsville, PA, the son of David Edward and Olive Elizabeth (Deems) Elliott, and grew up in Beallsville, PA.

Mr. Elliott was a member of the Faith Presbyterian Church of Cape Coral in Florida. David was a contractor; he and his wife formerly owned Henry Shaffer Lumber Company of Kittanning. After retiring from the construction business, he raised Simmental Cattle on his farm near Mosgrove, PA. Previously he was a school teacher for Shannock Valley High School. David served in the US Naval Air Corps during WWII. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #244, the Rotary Club of Cape Coral, FL and previously served as president of the Kittanning, PA Rotary Club. Mr. Elliott was a member of the Palmetto Pine Country Club of Cape Coral, FL.

David had a variety of interests, from antique furniture to woodworking tools, and enjoyed travelling with his wife, Jean. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Jean Elliott, whom he married October 16, 1965; two sons, Dr. David M. Elliott and wife, Lois, of McCandless Township, PA, and Timothy E. Elliott and wife, Patricia, of Plano, TX; one daughter, Jill DesJardins and husband, Richard, of Sandia Park, NM; two step-daughters, Carolyn Glendening and husband, Charles, of Butler and Linda Smithe and husband, Brian Ducharme; six grandchildren, Schuyler Kidd, Shannon Tieppo, Andrew Glendening, Meredith Glendening, Brett Ducharme, and Eric "Biff" Ducharme; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert E. Elliott, of Kerrville, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jeane Carson Elliott, who died in 1964; and a son, Jeffrey Carson Elliott, in 1953.

Family and friends will be received from 11-12 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., where funeral services will be held at 12 PM with the Rev. Dana Wilmot officiating.

Burial will follow at the Rural Valley Cemetery, Rural Valley, Armstrong Co., PA.
